What a trip we had on Sat 7 June! Weather ranging from nearly flat calm in the morning to “interesting” wind at the edge of a storm as we went down the Bure towards Thurne Mouth in the afternoon. Our skipper, Pete, skilfully handled gybes by progressively scandalising the sail. From sunshine to a heavy downpour and back to sunshine again.

Wonderful selection of bird life: a bittern posing amongst the reeds, red kite, marsh harrier, little egret, Cetti’s warbler, crested grebe, heron, cormorant, common cranes, kestrel, reed bunting, great tit as well as the more common swans and geese. Via an app the sounds of wren, sedge warbler and skylark were heard.

All were so glad that we had not been put off by the weather forecast.
